Opportunities for Engagement!

There are so many ways to get involved with your League and all are appreciated:

Here are a few possibilities…some are one-time events; some are behind the scenes roles, and some are front and center.

Membership – We need people to be greeters, outreach to new members, outreach at renewal, volunteer coordinator (help match people with tasks), networking coordinator (help plan ways to meet and greet)

Volunteer on a Committee – what’s your interest?? Natural Resources, Transportation, Gun Violence Prevention, Education, Voter Services and Voter Registration, Library Services, Juvenile Justice, Women’s Issues, Mental Health

Have an interest and don't see a committee? No problem we can start a group! Looking for a lead for new groups – Social Issues such as Housing or Healthcare, Field Trips, LGBTQ+, Banned Book Club

Have a skill to share? – Looking for help with Publicity, Fundraising, Speakers Bureau

Abortion Ballot Initiative

One of our League’s top priorities this year is the abortion access 2024 ballot initiative. Over 900,000 petitions must be collected, verified and submitted! We have to get thousands of signatures by December for the review of the amendment by the Florida Supreme Court. We need you actively working on getting signatures. Here is the website:

You can also get more detailed information about the petition process, including a volunteer guide, here:

You can print the petition forms from either site. There will also be petitions available at all LWVSC events.

Be sure you get signed petitions from every family member, friend and neighbor. For whoever you’re helping with the petition:
Make sure the person is a FL Registered Voter
Write Clearly or petition will be thrown out.
It is not country after zip code, it is COUNTY.
Birth Date is all you need.
Please sign the same signature that is on your voter’s registration (this may be the same as your DL)

  Accurately enter the date signed.

CHECK every form to be sure they won’t be rejected, i.e., complete and legible. You cannot make any corrections. If you find an error, throw it out and have the person sign a new one correctly!

DEADLINES
We have 7 days from the date of the signature to get petitions to Floridians Protecting Freedom. We encourage you to send your petitions to the address on the petition. If you opt to use a drop off hub, do so in as timely a fashion as possible.
Floridians Protecting Freedom has just 30 Days from date of signature, to get completed petitions to the appropriate Supervisor of Elections.

Vote-by-Mail
Request your Mail Ballot

Due to Florida's Senate Bill 90 (2021), all registered Florida voters who want to vote by mail in 2023-2024 must submit a NEW vote-by-mail ballot request to their county Supervisor of Elections!

Municipal Elections are fast approaching in many parts of the state, and the deadline to request a ballot be mailed to you is 10 days before a local municipal election date.
