In 1920, a short time before women were given the right to vote, the League of Women Voters was founded by Carrie Chapman Catt with the express mission of educating women voters.

A group of women in Florida formed the first Florida League in 1939, continuing the national non-partisan, non-sectarian emphasis on advocacy and voter education.

The League of Women Voters Seminole, organized by Sarah McClendon and a group of local women in 1966, and has continued to be a strong non-partisan voice in Central Florida advocating for public education, the environment, and open local government.

We celebrated LWV's 100th Anniversary in 2020!

LWVSC received a proclamation from Seminole County Board of Commissioners that February 2010 is “Happy 90th Birthday Month.”

Activities the League has been involved in over the past 50 years will soon be published here.
