What is the 4 Point TABLING Approach?
Relationships are where we are able to share authentically and honestly and can touch voters with our wisdom. This season, our team is using a focused, 4-point engagement framework at every tabling event. Our opening question sets the tone: "Do you know about our League?" From there, every volunteer’s story is different: what has that experience meant to you!!!
First, after your personal introduction, invite the voter to” join” or “follow us”. There will be a folder in every Engagement Box that contains everything you need to know so you don’t have to have it memorized.
Second, remind voters about the August 18th Primary. This may be the only election where voters can cast their ballot for School Board members and Judges, two races that shape our community in lasting ways. Many voters do not know this, and it is a powerful and nonpartisan piece of information.
Third, share the Vote by Mail reminder. Because Florida law requires that Vote by Mail ballots be requested every 2 years following the Presidential or Midterm elections. Also, the VBM ballots MUST be received by 7:00 PM on Election Day not just postmarked. Voters should allow at least one week for delivery. However, taking your VBM ballot to an early voting location is your best guarantee.
Fourth, encourage voters to update their voter record online. Florida's new elections law will require verification of citizenship on state-issued ID for registration updates, and those whose records cannot be cross-checked may need to provide additional documentation. Getting it done online now, while the process is still straightforward, is the smart move.
